If bleeding has not stopped, replace the old gauze with new clean gauze; lay in a semi-reclined position with your head propped up on your pillows and continue to bite on the gauze for two (2) hours.

  1. It is important to understand that you may experience pain and discomfort.
  2. It is also important to complete the medications prescribed to you.
  3. Your dentures may feel bulky when you first get them, this is to allow for swelling which commonly occurs. As you continue to heal, your gums will shrink and your bone will reshape. Your dentures will become looser and may feel even bulkier, liners will be placed to improve fit and comfort (at 12 weeks and again in 1 year)
  4. If stitches have been placed, they typically will dissolve in about a week.

5. The first few weeks with your new immediate denture may be very challenging to the point of regret, but know that we will do all that we can to make this new experience healthy and positive.
